A summer of reading: International Geneva in fiction
It was while rereading an article by Nil Ulmi, published in L'Inédit in 2020, that the idea came to us. To offer you a summer of reading by proposing titles of novels set in international Geneva.
The list of authors cited by Nic Ulmi is long and covers writers from several countries. We have included this article in a gallery on geneveMonde.ch and will be adding to it over the coming weeks with audiovisual archives from RTS and presentations of books, some of which can be downloaded in pdf format thanks to the invaluable work of the Bibliothèque numérique romande.
We've also broadened the focus, taking into account not only novels set in international Geneva, but also the writers themselves who have had a personal connection with it. You may be surprised to see Albert Cohen and Louis-Ferdinand Céline rubbing shoulders on geneveMonde.ch, but then again...
This new summer series follows the publication, in summer 2023, of a selection of recorded lectures at the Rencontres internationales de Genève.
Our proposal is far from complete. Do you have any suggestions? We'd love to hear from you, and share our readings.

A time for dialogue
In 2003, a man from Geneva initiated a dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians far from the diplomatic arena. His aim: to achieve a two-state solution. The RTS archives bear witness to the dynamic generated by this ‘Geneva Initiative’.
