Kari Tapiola on child labour (3) Positive and Negative Aspects
During his carreer, Kari Tapiola, Deputy Director-General and Executive Director from 1996 to 2010, dealt with many important labour questions like international labour standards and fundamental principles and rights at work, multinational enterprises, the social and labour effects of globalization, technological change and industrial relations and the social and labour issues in countries in transition.
Field actor and institutional memory of the ILO, he talks on the occasion of the centenary of the "Declaration of Geneva" about children's rights with geneveMonde.ch about the evolution of child labour throughout the years. In this third part of our interview, Kari Tapiola explains the distinction between positive and negative child labour, the purpose of compulsory education and the economic aspect of child labour.
